No we are not giving you life advice. We are talking about the two variations of the popular Texas Hold’em poker which are primarily determined by their wagering structure. Limit and No Limit games are the two most popular types and you may also come across the game being played with pot limits and spread limits. Theses betting patterns hold good for Omaha, Seven Card Stud and for any other form of poker. Though this may sound a bit confusing I am going to describe the major difference between the games in a nutshell.
Fixed Limits for example have structured wagering limits and each round has a minimum and a maximum bet. You cannot change your bet from the amount of the structure, and you must keep in mind that your wager must be in multiples of the amount for the limit that you intend playing. However in Holdem and Omaha the amount of the blinds is dependent on the limit of the game.
In Spread Limit the player is allowed to bet any amount, which is of course within a specified range. Spread limit games are most common in Stud Games but have been known to be used in Texas Holdem as well. In a way spread limit games are similar to fixed games but the only difference is the range factor for betting.
The No Limit casino gambling games are more interesting as you are free to bet any amount at any time and is used in tournaments. The other variation is the pot limit and these are very similar to limit games as there is no real defined or fixed betting amount. However, what is of utmost importance is that your bet cannot exceed the size of the pot, which is pretty interesting!
