Baccarat is by far the most played casino gambling game in China from the mainland, Hong Kong to Macau. Chinese casino players are very superstitious which makes it quite a fun game to watch in casinos. Here is one of the superstitions… a player will squeeze the cards given to them tightly between their fingers, then they will take a slow look at them by lifting the vertical end slightly, and then turn the card around horizontally in order to take another slow look at the number. This increases the suspense in the game.
Another cool superstition that Chinese gamblers have is the blowing on the cards. This get rid of any bad numbers. I should try this when playing the lottery
Other common Chinese gambling superstitions include: wearing red underwear to the casino (quality); switching on all the lights at home before heading out to gamble (I do this for safety reasons); and, only during Baccarat games, calling out the word ‘ding’ in Mandarin before opening the cards.
Baccarat is so massive in China that 86 percent of Macau’s total gaming revenues in 2008, at a total of $11.8 billion, came from gambling in Baccarat.
